Paul & Al - Inducted August 27, 2026

After first working together in Alabama, Paul Fuller and Al Matthews arrived at 94- HJY (WHJY-FM) in Providence in 1990, marking the beginning of an extraordinary relationship with generations of Rhode Island listeners.

For more than 36 years, Paul and Al, along with their memorable cast of regulars, brought laughter to the airwaves every weekday morning. From their beloved characters and parodies to outrageous fake commercials, hilarious takes on news and sports, and the infamous Thursday tradition “Stump the DJ,” their show became an essential part of the morning routine throughout Southern New England.

Along the way, Paul and Al became the hosts of the second-longest-running morning radio program in Rhode Island history and earned a well-deserved place in the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame.
Paul and Al officially retired in August 2026, bringing an incredible era of local radio to a close.
