Who decides on the inductees being entered into the RI Comedy of Fame?
The Rhode Island Comedy Hall of Fame has an anonymous 7-member selection commitee that votes on who should be inducted into the Hall of Fame twice a year. The nominees are selected with input from the local comedy community, entertainment community, and the general public's opinions.
What credintials are required to be selected as a Hall of Fame inductee?
Anyone who is considered a 'Rhode Islander' and has worked in field of comedy entertainment is qualified. This means the person was born in Rhode Island, grew up in Rhode Island, or spent a significant portion of their professional career working and living in Rhode Island as a comedy entertainer.
Is the Comedy Hall of Fame just for stand-up comedians?
No. The Hall of Fame includes people from all fields of comedy. That would include stand-up comedy, improv, television, radio, music, written word, stage performance, comedy related business, and other genres. Basically, any job in entertainment that is related to comedy.
What do the Hall of Fame inductees win?
Inductees don't win anything. The Hall of Fame isn't a contest. Its just a way to spotlight some of the Rhode Islanders who have devoted a portion of their professional lives to making people laugh.
Where is the RICHOF located?
The RICHOF is virtual. As in, it is available to see on the internet through this website and several social media accounts. In the past the RICHOF has had a home. And maybe someday there will be a public display again somewhere in Rhode Island. But most hall of fames don't have a home unless they're attached to a related museum.
How do I become a member of the selection committee?
As of right now, there are no openings on the selection committee. But if and when one does open, the committee will select someone to fill the opening.
